Bereavement Support

Hospice provides support and assistance to families and individuals dealing with expected deaths resulting from life limiting illness. Hospice Care of the West views grief and mourning as the natural, expected and reactionary process to the death of a loved one. Grief is normal! It is not a mental health disorder.

Hospice Care of the West’s bereavement program supports families and community bereaved as they reconcile their loss, process their grief, learn to heal and resume their daily activities. Although the bereavement team does not provide long-term counseling, they are Master’s level social workers trained to support the grieving and recognize when an individual is in need of in depth, clinical support. We believe in connecting the grieving person to support networks that will carry them through their healing process.

More information and help with grief can also be found at Grief Share.

No person's grief or mourning response occurs in a vacuum. Rather it is influenced, shaped, and determined by a constellation of factors that combine to render a mourner's response unique - as individual as a fingerprint.
